Upon entering the San Francisco office, I knew that it was going to be a little different, but nonetheless, it was similar to what I had expected. Unlike Chegg HQ, which comprises several buildings, the San Francisco office was only a one-floor standard business office, housing many desks and monitors. I then met my new boss, Stephanie Tsuyemura, who was happy to greet me at the front desk. We began to discuss what I would be doing for this internship. I quickly identified what I would be doing this time, mostly designing Chegg advertisements that would be posted to media platforms like Spotify and Pandora. I had little experience with advertisement design and was nervous about starting on something I had such little expertise in. However, this new set of challenges was now my job, and I had to be ready for what my team, boss, and company expected from me. Despite having a lot of questions and concerns, I had to be prepared and willing to work.

If I were to have received this news about starting in advertising, I would easily turn again to Hegarty on Advertising. Chapter 2 of the book focuses on brands and audiences. After reading this chapter, a quote that stood out to me is, "A brand isn't just made by the people who buy it, but also by the people who know about it." (Ch 2, pg 43). I would reflect to myself, "How would have my past self been able to promote Chegg?" How could I have expanded the Chegg brand with my advertisements?" "What could I do to make Chegg a household name brand?" These questions would take time to answer, and these thoughts would linger on for the duration of my second internship, even now, upon reflecting on it.
