Before working for Chegg, I was quite apprehensive about life after college and did not really know what would happen to me once I graduated. Parts of me feared what would happen the day I received a diploma and would have no idea what to do next. Luckily for me, Chegg would help me find some sense of what to do. I was quite humbled to have worked for Chegg for not one but three internships. Each time, I worked with an amazing group of people, and every time I returned, I acquired new knowledge and skills. Over three years I was able to adapt and thrive in the business workspace. I have been lucky enough to go to college and have always been a solid student; however, when working for Chegg, I learned more about the workspace and about life than I have ever learned in school. I never really strived for specific work/life goals before working at Chegg, but afterward I became more invested in not only the near future but also aspirations further along in life. Goals are a great way to envision the future and set an outline for your life. I remember my first internship being extremely nerve-racking at times, and I would often feel overwhelmed by the work. Thanks to help from my co-workers, especially my boss, Ramya, I built composure and skill with each passing day. Eventually, I became comfortable in the office and more than happy to assist my team in projects and of course, get work done myself. My second internship presented new challenges; however, because of my first internship, I felt nothing was too daunting, and if I worked smart and hard enough, nothing could topple me. By my third internship, the world had gone over Zoom, yet I was still able to succeed and work effectively, something I would consider impossible if you asked me two years earlier. Whenever I worked for Chegg, I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride that I could not find anywhere else since I know that the sense exists whenever I am working to achieve/succeed in the workplace. Thanks to Chegg, I was able to discover the wonder and joy of getting a job and being able to work in a great environment. Today, I can feel proud of my work and no longer have a fear of the workplace; instead, I look forward to it.
When I graduate from St. Mary’s, I want to work in a business where I am not just doing busy work and am actually helping a company/brand achieve it’s goals, which I hope makes a positive impact in the workspace and in the world. Such an opportunity was presented to me fairly recently when I was lucky enough to work at East Lawn and Bonney Watson. Both of these companies have been around for decades and are committed to offering mortuary services to the greater Sacramento and Seattle area, respectively. While working these internships/jobs, I was able to apply many of the lessons/principles that I acquired while working for Chegg. Because of my prior know-how in making quality presentations and advertisement/website design, I could once again thrive at my job(s). If it were not for the skills I had gotten from years of work at Chegg, I definitely would not have been able to succeed at East Lawn or Bonney Watson. Thanks to Chegg, I feel confident and ready for the workplace.
